Imported anti-Semitism

Not only since the Bundestag election campaign 2017 when the AfD had claimed to be "one of the few political guarantors of Jewish life even in times of illegal anti-Semitic migration to Germany" the talk of "imported anti-Semitism" has become quite common. But how is this to be assessed? Is there actually an increased anti-Semitism among Muslims? And if so, what are the challenges for civil society? This essay examines these questions and analyzes at an empirical, phenomenological and historical level what kind Muslim anti-Semitism is of, how it differs from European anti-Semitism and what can be done to integrate migrants from Muslim countries into a democratic system of values that rejects anti-Semitism.
